HERITAGE LOTTERY FUNDING SURGERY

Heritage Lottery Fund – Funding “Surgery”
Thursday 14st March 2013

At the Heritage Lottery Fund, we are aware that some community and voluntary groups are nervous of filling in forms and making applications for money.  This is why we offer a one-to-one advice service where you can meet officer’s and talk through your project and the process of applying for a grant.

We have a clear heritage focus but that doesn’t just mean old buildings.  It can also include history and heritage reflected through communities, people’s memories and stories, and working with young people to explore ideas of identity and place.

We are pleased to announce that our Development Officer, Adam Hitchings will be available at the Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations office in Llandrindod Wells on Thursday 14th March 2013.

If you would like to book a slot, please contact Danielle Wheeler on 029 2034 3413, by Friday 8th March 2013.

You will need to provide us with some basic information before the meeting itself and request that is done via our website www.hlf.org.uk/english/howtoapply.  We will then confirm your meeting slot.

Cyfarfodydd Ariannu – Cronfa Dreftadaeth y Loteri
Dydd Iau 14 Mawrth 2013

Yng Nghronfa Dreftadaeth y Loteri rydym yn ymwybodol fod rhai grwpiau cymunedol a gwirfoddol yn nerfus am lenwi ffurflenni a gwneud ceisiadau am arian. Dyna pam yr ydym yn cynnig gwasanaeth cynghori un-i-un lle y gallwch gyfarfod swyddogion a thrafod eich prosiect.

Mae gennym ffocws dreftadaeth clir ond nid yw hyn yn golygu dim ond adeiladau a chadwraeth, gall hefyd gynnwys hanes a threftadaeth a adlewyrchir drwy gymunedau, prosiectau addysg, straeon ac atgofion pobl a gweithio gyda phobl ifanc i archwilio syniadau o hunaniaeth a lle.

Rydym yn falch o allu cyhoeddi fod ein Swyddog Datblygu, Adam Hitchings ar gael yn swyddfa Cymdeithas Mudiadau Gwirfoddol Powys yn Llandrindod ar ddydd Iau 14 Mawrth 2013.

Os hoffech archebu lle, cysylltwch â Danielle Wheeler ar 029 2034 3413, cyn dydd Gwener 8 Mawrth 2013.

Bydd yn raid i chi ein darparu gyda ychydig o wybodaeth sylfaenol cyn y cyfarfod ei hun, a dylech wneud hyn drwy ein gwefan http://welsh.hlf.org.uk/HowToApply/Pages/Sut_i_ymgeisio.aspx.
Byddwn wedyn yn cadarnhau eich amser cyfarfod.

HLF Sharing Heritage Programme Launched (UK)

This £3 million scheme is administered and provided by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). It follows on from the success of HLF's one-off grant scheme 'All Our Stories'.
Not for profit organisations including community groups, social enterprises, community/parish councils and local authorities can apply for grants of between £3,000 and £10,000 for projects which make a difference to people, heritage and communities across the UK.
Heritage can include many different things from the past that are valued and that people want to pass on to future generations, for example:
  • Archaeological sites.
  • Collections of objects, books or documents in museums, libraries or archives.
  • Cultural traditions such as stories, festivals, crafts, music, dance and costumes.
  • Historic buildings.
  • Histories of people and communities.
  • Histories of places and events.

  • Natural and designed landscapes and gardens.
  • People’s memories and experiences (often recorded as ‘oral history’).
  • Places and objects linked to our industrial, maritime and transport history.
  • Natural heritage including habitats, species and geology.
To be supported, projects must meet some of the outcomes identified by HLF, and as a minimum, achieve one of the identified outcomes for people. These are:
Outcomes for people - people will have:
  • Developed skills
  • Learnt about heritage
  • Changed their attitudes and/or behaviour
  • Had an enjoyable experience
  • Volunteered time
Outcomes for heritage - heritage will be:
  • Better managed
  • In better condition
  • Better interpreted and explained
  • Identified/recorded
Outcomes for communities:
  • Environmental impacts will be reduced
  • More people and a wider range of people will have engaged with heritage
  • Organisations will be more resilient
  • Local economy will be boosted
  • Local areas/communities will be a better place to live, work or visit

Social Value Act comes into force

The Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 requires commissioners to consider the economic, environmental and social benefits of their approaches to procurement before the process starts. Commissioners will also have to consider whether they should consult on these issues. The Act applies to the pre-procurement stage of contracts for services as the Government believes that is where social value can be considered to greatest effect to inform the whole shape of the procurement approach and the design of the services required.
The Government also contends that wider consultation will:
  • develop stronger relationships between service providers and authorities; and
  • enable people to say what they want from a particular public service, resulting in the best possible service for local communities.
The Government argues that as the demand for core public services increases significantly due to reduced central government funding, commissioners will be required to identify better targeted more innovative and radical service delivery solutions to meet this demand.
Minister for Civil Society, Nick Hurd, said:
"As taxpayers, we should all want those buying services on our behalf to get as much value as possible. This Act is an important step in encouraging public sector commissioners to think harder about maximising value to communities. It also supports our commitment to make it easier for charities and Social Enterprises to help deliver better public services."
